“A TV advert for the XBox 360 games console has been banned over fears it encouraged reckless driving by “glamorising” boy racers’ following a complaint from just one viewer.

The un-named solitary viewer told watchdogs that the ad was “irresponsible” because it glamorised “street racing” and might encourage viewers - young men in particular - to drive dangerously.”

The purpose of video games is to escape reality. The advert clearly stated “Dramatisation. Professional stunt. Do not attempt”.

I don’t understand or support the logic behind this move. Why ban an advert on one negative feedback? Do they not take into account that many people did not mind this and did not bother to raise it up as it is so frivolous?  Before we know it, games like these will be illegal.

Today is a bad day for any acquisition stories. You can never tell if they are pranks or for real!

According to ‘The Flat Panel and a Phone‘, Google bought iotum for half a billion bucks!

“After almost 3 months of negotiations Google has agreed to buy iotum in an all cash deal of $520m.”

“Sergey Grin of Google was ecstatic about the new purchase and explained to me why he was so enthusiastic - “iotum is the missing piece in our puzzle.”

“NOW we will also know, thanks to iotum where and what you are doing at any given time which will make our advertising much more relevant.”

Well, I am going to put this as another April 1st Prank! ahhhh!! Enough! I am out.

Introducing Gmail Paper

April 1st, 2007

Yeap, it is Free!

“The cost of postage is offset with the help of relevant, targeted, unobtrusive advertisements, which will appear on the back of your Gmail Paper prints in red, bold, 36 pt Helvetica. No pop-ups, no flashy animations—these are physically impossible in the paper medium.”

Well seems to be another Google April 1st prank along with Google TiSP. So the the 20% of time that Google employees get to think creatively is spent mostly on April 1st gags? They all seem so well thought of and made! :)

leopard.jpg

You got to be kidding me. Did I just read that right?

It is true, according to TG Daily :

“Apple is expected to launch its next generation Leopard operating system (OS) in April, but according to industry sources, the release of the new OS will be postponed to October to allow Apple to make Leopard support Windows Vista through an integrated version of its Boot Camp software.

The sources pointed out that the launch delay is not due to software design problems with Leopard but instead is attributed to Apple’s plan to have its new OS support Windows Vista through an integrated version of Boot Camp.”

Is Apple just trying to BS? Why can it not launch Leopard and then release a patch later on that allows Vista to run on Boot Camp? It is clearly Apple’s fault and not Microsoft’s!

Update: Comments here and elsewhere suggest that the original article on DigiTimes where this information originated from may be inaccurate. Thanks all.

teletubbies.jpg

That’s right - those in England should know what I’m on about. A figurehead for all that is British - the Teletubbies, one of the sickest, weirdest concepts on British television have reached the grand old age of 10 years old. From left to right, Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po (of which we all grasp the fact that the purple one is obviously gay with the addition of carrying round a handbag most of the time). Happy birthday to you all! May you have another 10 years decade, oh just get cancelled already.
