“The more megapixels a camera has, the better the pictures.” Is this true?

“Advertisements declare a camera’s megapixel rating as though it’s a letter grade, implying that a 7-megapixel model is necessarily better than a 5-megapixel model.” But for whom? Do we really need it? Can we save money?

“For the nonprofessional, five or six megapixels is plenty, even if you intend to make poster-size prints.” After a certain point megapixels don’t matter.

It is an interesting read for anyone who just wants to take pictures of their nights out and friends and could save themselves a lot of money if they are thinking of buying a new digital camera.
